Castlerahan Community Welcomes New VEX IQ Competition Kit
Exciting news for young robotics enthusiasts in Castlerahan! Following a hands-on workshop at the Castlerahan Broadband Connection Point (BCP), students in the 5th and 6th classes of St. Mary’s National School are thrilled to receive their very own VEX IQ competition kit. This valuable resource brings new opportunities for students to develop STEM skills, collaborate with classmates, and begin preparing for local, regional, and national robotics competitions.
The introduction of the VEX IQ kit would not have been possible without the dedicated support of several key figures. Special thanks go to Principal Mrs. Deirdre Clinton and Deputy Principal Mrs. Suzann O’Reilly of St. Mary’s National School for their enthusiasm and commitment to STEM education. Their support has been instrumental in organizing the workshop and in providing students with access to this advanced learning experience.
Gratitude also extends to David Hodge, VEX Development Coordinator at Munster Technological University, and to Cavan County Council, whose partnership and guidance made this initiative possible. Their support enables students to explore robotics and compete with other schools across Ireland, fostering an environment where young learners can explore engineering and technology.
The recent workshop at the Castlerahan Broadband Connection Point (BCP) was an engaging introduction to VEX IQ for the students. With hands-on activities, students began learning the basics of robotics, programming, and teamwork, all key skills for the upcoming VEX competitions.
