2,800 homes, businesses, and farms in the Bailieborough area can now connect to high-speed fibre broadband.
National Broadband Ireland (NBI) has announced that nearly 2,800 homes, businesses, and farms in the Bailieborough area can now connect to high-speed fibre broadband. This development is part of the National Broadband Plan (NBP), a significant government initiative aimed at bringing future-proofed, high-speed internet to rural Ireland.
The Bailieborough deployment area includes the rural communities of Bailieborough, Virginia, and Laragh. This means that residents in these areas can now enjoy minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second, transforming how they work, learn, and stay connected.
Cavan is set to benefit from €65 million of government investment under the NBP, marking the largest investment in rural Ireland since rural electrification. In total, 17,000 premises in County Cavan are included in the State’s Intervention Area, ensuring widespread access to high-speed internet.
NBI is encouraging residents to visit nbi.ie/map/ and enter their Eircode to see if they are ready to connect. With 2,796 premises in the Bailieborough area now eligible, it's a great time to check your status and get connected.
The network build is also progressing in other parts of Cavan. Nearly 800 premises near Carrigallen are expected to be connected this summer, with additional connections planned for Bawnboy and Dowra by the end of next year. Currently, 12,034 premises across Cavan can pre-order or order high-speed broadband, with 3,781 connections already made.
Stay connected and enjoy the benefits of high-speed broadband in Cavan!
