Culture Night Art Exhibition

Experience the Art Exhibition that Launches Culture Night

Culture Night 2025 in Cavan begins with an inspiring celebration of creativity, community, and collaboration. On Friday, 19 September, the Art Exhibition at Johnston Central Library (3–6pm) will mark the official launch of Cultúr Cavan Creatives, a free digital platform designed to showcase and support writers and artists both locally and beyond.

A Powerful Exhibition to Open Culture Night

This exhibition brings together the work of eight artists working across local and international contexts. Their pieces explore diverse and thought-provoking themes — memory, sustainability, neurodiversity, and cultural resilience — offering a vivid reflection of the richness of Cavan’s creative spirit.

With a strong focus on amplifying underrepresented voices, the exhibition highlights the perspectives of migrant, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, disabled, young, mature, emerging, and established creatives. It sets the tone for Culture Night 2025 by showing how art can bridge communities and spark important conversations.

The Official Launch of Cultúr Cavan Creatives

The highlight of the afternoon will be the official unveiling of Cultúr Cavan Creatives at 4pm, led by Cathaoirleach John Paul Feeley and H.E. Daniel R. Espiritu, Ambassador of the Philippines to Ireland, alongside representatives from Cavan County Council and Cavan Arts.

Funded through Creative Cavan, this exciting initiative makes space for writers, artists, and makers to share their work, connect with audiences, and collaborate across disciplines.

Collaboration at the Core

Cultúr Cavan Creatives is the result of a strong collaborative spirit. Built in partnership with Cavan County Council, Cavan Arts, and several key community initiatives, the platform highlights the transformative power of creative networks. Among these initiatives are:

  • Eco Arts & Culture for All by Vanda Brady, focusing on championing underrepresented artists through ecology and inclusivity.

  • Cavan Creatives, a grassroots writers’ network led by Gerard Smith, nurturing the voices of authors and storytellers across the county.

  • Cavan Connects, a community initiative, which will host the new platform and use technology to strengthen creative connections.

Together, these projects form the foundation of a space where creativity can thrive and where all voices are welcomed and heard.

Join the Celebration

The opening art exhibition at Johnston Central Library is more than just a showcase of work — it is an invitation to take part in shaping Cavan’s creative future. As Culture Night 2025 unfolds, the launch of Cultúr Cavan Creatives ensures that art, culture, and community remain at the centre of our shared experience.

Make sure to join us on Friday 19 September, 3–6pm, and be there for the official launch at 4pm. Celebrate this exciting new chapter in Cavan’s cultural story and discover how creativity continues to connect us all.
