Events are taking place across the county, with something to interest people of all ages.
National Heritage Week 2026 runs from Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 August across Ireland, with this year’s theme “Heritage at Risk” inviting communities to reflect on the built, natural and cultural heritage that is vulnerable or under threat and what we can do to protect and revive it. County Cavan has a rich programme of free and family-friendly events, from library exhibitions and storytelling to walks, workshops and talks that highlight local history, biodiversity and traditional skills.
Across the county, libraries, community groups and heritage organisations are hosting events that fit the “Heritage at Risk” theme while showcasing Cavan’s unique stories and landscapes.
